A Delegation from Lithuanian Embassy in UK Visits EULS

On the 27th of September EULS held an exciting and outstanding event – a seminar with Ambassador of Republic of Lithuania in the UK Dr Oskaras Jusys together with Minister Counsellor Sigitas Mitkus and Culture Attaché Rita Valiukonytė. And driver Mr Venckus.

During the visit in Edinburgh throughout the day, Dr O. Jusys had meetings with members from many Scottish government and cultural institutions. Main topics of the visit were Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and an establishment of Embassy of Republic of Lithuania in Edinburgh.

After the meetings, the delegation arrived to Lorimer Room in Old College to meet the Lithuanian students at the University of Edinburgh. Many issues have been discussed during this seminar – the financial crisis, comparisons of UK economic policies a few years ago and now, an establishment of Embassy of Republic of Lithuania in Edinburgh. Delegation were also evaluating and  sharing their insights about the Scottish independence program: pros and cons, Holyrood and London negotiation and controversies. Lithuanian Parliamentary Election 2012 and youth involvement in it were also extensively discussed.

Members of the delegation stayed for a chat after the seminar. The seminar was very successful and was beneficial for both students and the delegation.

Thank you for coming and good luck in your studies!
